Leonard Nimoy, the Jewish actor noted for playing Mr. Spock on Star Trek, was reportedly the inspiration behind the character's "live-long-and-prosper" greeting. The five fingers held upright and split between middle and ring fingers is the sign of the Jewish High Priest (the Kohen) and can be seen on synagogue and religious artifacts.Useless information?
